Autumn 1 Week 3

We have really enjoyed going on our bear hunt this week where we had to find hidden bears in the centre area and count them! We recorded how many we found on paper. We enjoyed listening to the story and joining in with the actions and the song. Please ask us about the adventure of going on a bear hunt. In phonics we have learnt the sounds i,n,m,d and tricky word 'the'. In literacy we have been looking at the function of a picture in a story and how it helps us understand what is happening. We have created our very own bear caves, discussing how to keep our bear warm and happy.

We have really enjoyed exploring texture through our sand painting and have been working really hard on our scissor skills, we are trying to build up the muscle strength in our fore finger and thumb to further develop our fine motor skills. These muscles are very important for our handwriting progression and it would really benefit us to practise this skill at home.

Have a look at our photographs from this week!

Autumn 1 Week 2

This week we have been focusing on the story of the 'Snail and the Whale'. It was wonderful to see how everyone came together to help the whale go back to the sea. We discussed how we can help out in school, tidying up and looking after one another along with helping out at home, making our bed in the mornings and dressing ourselves. We created interesting collages using animals and colours from our story.

In Literacy we have been working really hard on identifying rhyming words in songs and stories. We have been reciting Humpty Dumpty, Incy Wincy Spider and Hickory Dickory Dock, see how well we know them. This week we focused on the sounds s, a, t, p, thinking of words that begin with that sound and the tricky word I. Please ask us to sing the rhyme and relevant action for each of these sounds.
In Maths we have been investigating different shapes to create the various parts of a house which you can see displayed in our classroom.

Autumn 1 Week 1

Welcome back to school! We are delighted to see all our little Zebras and Giraffes' smiling faces. We've had a wonderful first week, settling into our new classrooms, making new friends and trying new things. Our teachers, Miss Quick and Miss Flynn have been teaching us new songs and rhymes, please ask us to recite them. In Phonics we've been training our ears to hear different sounds, clap the syllables in our name, hear the beat in words along with discussing rhyming words. We've been revising our numbers and singing counting songs. We've met our lovely Music Teacher, Miss Verlato and our energetic PE Teachers, Mr Johnston and Mr Shovelton. If you would like to please come and have a look at our very creative giraffes and zebras which are displayed outside our classrooms. We've really enjoyed our first week back and are looking forward to returning after Eid fully rested and ready to learn! We hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Here are some photos below of our first week.
