Well what an exciting Science week we have had in Reception. We have learned all about how materials can change, we made some slime, we investigated how using different liquids can change colour and we watched a short film about the planets in the very exciting inflated dome. We were very brave going in as we had to go through a dark tunnel but we were very intrigued as to what was on the inside.
We carried out some of our own experiments in class too. Some of our toys became frozen in blocks of ice and we had to figure out how to set them free and how they might have become frozen in the first place. We also read the story of The Magic Porridge Pot and discussed the ingredients we would need to make it. The children helped make the porridge using oats and water. When it was cooked we added some honey to it. The children devoured it, saying it was delicious. We spoke about how healthy porridge is for us, how the oats give us energy all day long and it helps our brain to stay awake. We enjoyed it so much that the children thought it would be a great idea to have it for breakfast at home before we come to school.
We are looking forward to our break for lots of play outside in the fresh air, eating lots of healthy food and getting lots of sleep. I hope you all have a lovely restful break and see you on the 5th of February.
